A resident of the Society Hill neighborhood in Ward A, Noemi Velazquez is an accomplished, high-energy community engagement professional. A graduate of SUNY at Buffalo (BA) and NJCU (Master’s Education). She also attended the University of Madrid, University of Puerto Rico and completed courses for a doctorate program at Seton Hall University. As an educator, Noemi dedicated five years to the students of Buffalo, NY and forty years to the Jersey City Public School District where she served as a teacher, supervisor, Special Assistant, and Associate Superintendent. In addition to her commitment to the children of Jersey City, Noemi is very well known for her activism as founder of female empowerment organizations such as the LUPE Fund and the LUPE PAC, and is also a member of NJ WAGG (Women Advocating for Good Government).
She has served on national, state, and local boards such as ASPIRA, PACO, Hogar Crea, Jersey City Borinquen, Emerge NJ, Hispanic Research and Information Center and the Jersey City Public Library. Presently, Noemi is employed as Aide to Governor Phil Murphy’s Office of Constituent Services.
Noemi is running for a three-year term for Jersey City School Board to bring her wealth of knowledge and community activism to the children of Jersey City.
