A resident of the Lafayette neighborhood in Ward F, Asheenia Johnson graduated from New Jersey City University with a BA in Economics. During her undergraduate studies, she was very active in the campus community. She served as a member of several organizations such as student government, University Senate, American Federation of Teachers Local 1839's election and New Jersey AFT budget committee, and the National Society of Leadership and Success, among others.
Asheenia’s work experience includes retail banking management, consumer lending, and grant writing and management. She has worked in Hudson County’s Office of the Public Defender, as a constituent aide for Senator Sandra Cunningham, local press secretary to Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight, and as a Systems Analyst for the Hudson County Register. Asheenia has a passion for working in communities across Jersey City. She is currently the Aide to Ward F Councilman Jermaine D. Robinson. She volunteers with various local and national organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Jersey City Public Safety Advisory Board, United Rescue Jersey City, and Jersey City Arts Council.
Asheenia is running for a three-year term for Jersey City School Board to continue her unwavering commitment to moving families forward through the civic, educational and governmental organizations.
